Biology/Toxicology Pre-Veterinary Medicine Program
This track prepares students for Veterinary School and for the GRE or MCAT, at least one of which is required for admission. Students should maintain a 3.7 GPA and score in the upper 50% on the admissions test to be considered competitive for admission. Many veterinary schools also recommend or require a number of hours of observation/volunteer work with a practicing veterinarian.

Courses to take to prepare for admission to a Veterinary Medicine Program
For the Pre-Veterinary Medicine track leading to a B.S. with a major in Biology, students should:
• Choose Math 205/206 The Calculus for their math requirement
• Choose the following courses as part of their 19 elective Biology credit hours: • Bio 225/226 Anatomy and Physiology, • Bio 328 Vertebrate Biology, • Bio 340 Microbiology, • Bio 424 Cell Biology, • Bio 429 Biochemistry
• Take Chem 308 Organic Chemistry (2nd semester)
• Take Physics 205/206 Engineering Physics OR Physics 201/202 General Physics
For the Pre-Veterinary Medicine track leading to a B.S. with a major in Toxicology, students should:
• Choose Math 205/206 The Calculus for the calculus requirement
• Choose the following courses as part of their 8 elective Biology credit hours: • Bio 328 Vertebrate Biology, • Bio 340 Microbiology
• Take Bio 225/226 Anatomy and Physiology
• Take Bio 424 Cell Biology
• Take Chem 308 Organic Chemistry (2nd semester)
• Take Physics 205/206 Engineering Physics OR Physics 201/202 General Physics
